Draft GP Appraisal annual report 08 - Following the publication of the White Paper “Trust Assurance and Safety” and the Shipman Report, doctors will now have to demonstrate to the public that they continue to be fit to practice throughout their professional careers. This will be achieved by a system of regular re-licensing and re-certification which together will comprise revalidation. It is clear that appraisal will have a key role in both relicensing and re-certification. It is also clear that the appraisal process will need to be more robust in order to be “fit for purpose”.
