Improving GP services May 10 - Following the publication in January 2009 of the document ’Primary and Community Services: Improving GP services’ by the Department of Health (DH), the management of GP contracts in England has changed, with a new role for PCT's. This document looks at the way that PCTs are being encouraged to assess practice performance and how GPs/LMCs can influence this process.
Extended hours access scheme March 10 - This guidance is on the changes to the Extended Hours Access Scheme which is to continue for a further year.

- The Statement of Financial Entitlements (Amendment) Directions 2010
come into effect from 1st April 2010. These amending directions are the latest
in a series of changes made to the Statement of Financial Entitlements published
in April 2005. Their primary purpose is to introduce payment mechanisms relating
to the following five directed enhanced services: extended hours access; alcohol
related risk reduction; ethnicity and first language recording; learning
difficulties health checks; osteoporosis diagnosis and prevention. There are
also some minor changes to: QOF - General; IM&T scheme for 2006/07 which is
deleted; definitions; QoF framework.These amending directions need to be read in
conjunction with the PMS Directed Enhanced Services (England) Directions 2010 .
Future of practice premises March 10 - GPs have traditionally been responsible for the provision of their practice premises but in recent years a number of other models have been used. This guidance reviews the factors driving this change and the various models of premises provision currently available, and includes case studies suggesting how common problems may be overcome.
